Book Review

1105 YAKIMA STREET
by Debbie Macomber

Genre: Mainstream, General Mainstream Fiction

RT Rating

For fans of soap operas, Macomber’s 11th book in the Cedar Cove series will be a delight. For other readers, who will have to use the included pages of character background to figure out who is who, the novel may be overwhelming rather than enjoyable.

To protect her unborn child and her own sanity, Rachel has left her husband, Bruce, and her stepdaughter – temporarily. It will take a lot of love, understanding and trust before they can begin to heal and create the family they all yearn for. Life is changing for others in Cedar Cove as well, including seniors Charlotte and Ben Rhodes and their family. They face a tough decision when the couple’s “forgetfulness” has nearly disastrous consequences. Deputy Gloria Ashton kept her pregnancy secret from the father. By the time he finds out, he’s dating another woman. Still, it’s obvious that he and Gloria are meant for each other. (MIRA, Sep., 400 pp., $7.99)
