ABOUT THE BABY
ABOUT THE BABY (4.5) by Tracy Wolff: Dr. Kara Steward, an epidemiologist, is in Africa to combat a new strain of ebola before it becomes a worldwide epidemic. Right as she’s recovering from a potentially fatal case of hemorrhagic dengue fever, she learns that a one-night encounter she had just before she left, with her best friend Dr. Lucas Montgomery, has resulted in a pregnancy. She and Lucas become closer waiting to see if their baby will be OK, and that closeness only grows when Lucas faces a tragedy in his own family. Wolff combines excellent story development with compelling characters, and an interesting plot. Her characters have real depth, and the narrative is full of excellent description — especially where Kara’s job is concerned.
