Flight attendant Nikkola Knight has been dreaming of warm, sultry nights with Captain Latham Scott. But his newly ended relationship with flight attendant Carmen has her playing it safe—and keeping her distance. Soon, however, Nikkola's fantasies become a far-better reality.

The romantic bubble bursts when Carmen has news for Latham that directly affects his growing relationship with Nikkola. Feeling hurt and needing reassurance, Nikkola gives in to the advances
of one of her former passengers. The path to love for Nikkola and Latham has
a lot of bumps, but true love might lead
to lifelong happiness.

Above the Clouds takes this couple on a long journey, but the destination they reach is well worth the effort. Hudson–Smith has written an emotional, and surprisingly intriguing, story, although it can be a bit exasperating at times—especially when it comes to the issue of trust. (Mar., 320 pp., $6.99)
