The Accident is an amazing ride that begins immediately and doesn’t stop until the last gripping showdown. Barclay’s characters are easy to root for. The tension between Glen and some of the secondary characters also ramps up the action.
When Glen Carver’s wife Sheila dies in a drunk-driving accident that she caused, he can’t believe it, but it is hard to refute the evidence. As he tries to take care of his daughter and his struggling business, Glen is confronted with the fact that Sheila may have been involved in a moneymaking scam. Glen must find out what she was up to and if her death truly was a horrible accident or if someone was trying to keep her quiet. (BANTAM, Sep., 400 pp., $25.00)
