The second installment in the Mistress series is as sexy, fun and entertaining as a reader could want. Warren has a master's touch when it comes to merging heated love scenes into a light plotline peopled with delightful characters. You'll be eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Disguising herself as a boy and running away from her manipulative stepfather seems like a good idea to Lily Bainbridge -- until she encounters Ethan Andarton, Lord Vessey. Ethan realizes she's a lady and takes her under his wing, but Lily isn't about to tell him her secrets.

When Lily claims her inheritance and moves into society as an eligible young widow, the spark between them becomes a flame of passion. Lily is the ideal mistress: sensual, fun loving and not interested in marriage. Soon Lily becomes eager for his every touch. But when they realize they want to be together, they are pulled apart. How they plan and plot to wed is no accident. (Ballantine, Dec., 380 pp., $6.99)
