Sheila Rabe beguiles us with THE ADVENTURESS (1), an interestingly different Regency romance about a beautiful young woman who embarks upon a marriage of convenience with a pennypinching old miser, becomes a widow before her wedding day is out and falls in love with a handsome earl whose intentions are definitely dishonorable. There's a lot to enjoy in this book, including Ms. Rabe's graceful writing style, but a major plot flaw involving the earl's stepbrother severely impacts the effectiveness of this tale.
