AFRAID TO DIE
by Lisa Jackson

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense

RT Rating

Detectives Regan Pescoli and Selena Alvarez are wading through snow and murder in the newest installment of Jackson’s literally chilling series. The “artistic” bent of this creepy killer is about to set the town on edge. This particular book explores more of Selena’s backstory and events that have ramifications today. Jackson serves up another helping of terrifically terrifying murder!

Grizzly Falls, Mont., is still recovering from its previous bout with a serial killer, so no one is prepared when a couple of women seemingly vanish. Events take a gruesome turn when one of the women turns up artistically posed and frozen in a block of ice. For Selena the past she thought she left behind reemerges when P.I. Dylan O’Keefe arrives tracking a suspect. Selena and Dylan once nearly hooked up when they were both cops in California, but Selena’s ghosts and a case gone bad interfered. When someone breaks into her house and takes jewelry and her dog, Selena is angered. That anger turns to trepidation when pieces of her jewelry are found on the frozen victims. Does this killer have Selena in his sights? (ZEBRA, Jul., 480 pp., $7.99)
