I wouldn’t necessarily classify this novel as erotica. The sex scenes are rough and explicit, to say the least, but are few and far between. The scenes do, however, allow the author to really sell the unconventional attraction between the two characters. The story is one-sided, so readers don’t really get a bead on the male character’s emotions and thoughts.

Erin Coffey just accepted a new job at a mental institution and puts her nursing license to work as she administers sedatives to schizophrenic patients. She meets orderly Kelly Robak, who epitomizes everything she wants to avoid in a man: He’s bossy, aggressive and domineering. But through conversations and two days of no-holds-barred sex, Erin starts to look at Kelly differently. Kelly also forces Erin to realize that depending on someone else, instead of being the one depended on, isn’t all that bad. (US.PENGUINGROUP.COM, dl $3.99)
