AGENTS AND ADEPTS
by Kathryn Sullivan

Genre: Fantasy, Anthology

RT Rating

AGENTS AND ADEPTS contains some of the most original and intriguing fantasy short stories to come along in quite some time. It's quite the offering to lovers of fantasy romance everywhere.

The compilation contains 16 tales covering a fantastical range from alien parrots going to college on Earth to witches and wizards living in another dimension and visiting Earth through magic portals.

The three standout tales include "The Demon's Storeroom," "The Transfer Student" and "Someone
Is Watching."

"The Demon's Storeroom" centers
on a wizard who has had to visit
said storeroom from time to time
to replenish his supplies. The ending
is a delightful surprise.

In "The Transfer Student," a parrot-like, alien being who transfers to college on Earth tries to make friends, but she's just too different.

"Someone Is Watching" revolves around a warrior trainee whose mission
is to rid the galaxy of evil aliens.

Though each and every story fascinates, some were too short to provide sufficient depth and shading for their intriguing characters. Overall, however, this is a delightfully fun read. Sullivan,
an Eppie winner, is clearly a talent to watch in the growing fantasy romance subgenre. (Feb., 252 pp., $15.50)
