Katie’s progression from being “just one of the boys” to Josh’s lover is the highlight of this well-written story by Stacey. It’s always great to see another Kowalski find a happy ever after, and a secondary love story keeps things even more interesting.

Josh and Katie have been best friends since they were kids. Never mind that she’s three years older — they watch football with the guys and ride a snowmobile together. She even cuts his hair in the barber shop she inherited from her dad. He runs the Northern Star Lodge in Whitford, Maine, and resents every minute of it. In his mind, his siblings have left home and found their dreams, while he’s stuck with all the responsibility. Katie’s been in love with Josh forever, and once he realizes he feels the same way, they can’t help but act on their attraction. But he still has a longing to see what’s beyond the lodge. Will he leave everything behind, including Katie, when he gets the chance? (CARINAPRESS.COM, dl $5.99)
