A special kind of man can rekindle the spirit of an abused woman. This is the story of such a man, and Ray is very adept at inspiring hope for women who have faced these challenges. Told from a very sympathetic perspective, this return to the Grayson Friends series is an empowering account of healing.

Veterinarian Dr. Richard Youngblood is facing his biggest test in trying to win the heart of Naomi Reese. Naomi’s history of abuse at the hands of her ex-husband has kept her in a constant state of fear for herself and her young daughter. He is determined and patient enough to wait, but Naomi is convinced that she’s not lovable. Having Naomi’s daughter on his side is his biggest asset. Once Naomi decides to fight for her man and allow the large Grayson family network to protect her, she becomes the woman she was always meant to be. Her final showdown with the bum she married is her opportunity to prove to herself that she is strong enough to allow Richard to share her life. (ST. MARTIN’S, Mar., 304 pp., $7.99)
