This first installment in Blake’s new series has a familiar feel; readers may remember the characters from Destiny, Ohio, but they’re getting a new beginning in Coral Cove, Fla. There’s a sweet innocence about Christy, and her relationship with Jack is as complicated as it is heartfelt. The vulnerability that the characters exhibit allows readers to feel an emotional connection right away. Blake has a talent for creating stories with realism that are easy to relate to and offer hope for a happily ever after.

Christy Knight lost her parents and home to a devastating fire and, without insurance, she’s left with nothing to do but start over. When she learns her beloved grandfather is also in dire straits, Christy becomes desperate. Her practical roommate suggests she find a rich husband to rescue her from her money woes. Sparks fly when she meets her handsome, rugged neighbor Jack DuVall, but he doesn’t have what she’s looking for — a fat bank account. Jack is immediately cautious around Christy. He’s been hurt before, and she’s obviously looking for a man of means. When they take a road trip together, she rapidly begins to steal his heart, but Jack’s careful not to let on about his financial success. When his secret is exposed, Christy and Jack struggle to find trust again and Coral Cove may be just the place to find it. (AVON, Jun., 384 pp., $5.99)
