After the way they parted years earlier, J.D. Carver is a bit surprised to find that he has inherited a share in the Star Lake Lodge from his former "foster parent" Edwina Lawrence. This couldn't come at a more opportune time as J.D.'s whistle-blowing activities have made him persona non grata in the Seattle construction industry.

Single mom Dru Lawrence, her 10-year-old son Tate, and her Uncle Ben and Aunt Sophie have been successfully running the Star Lake Lodge. None of them are thrilled with the idea of a stranger sharing ownership and responsibility for the lodge, but they will comply with Edwina's wish.

J.D's. rough and emotionally deprived upbringing has made him wary of everyone, so the kind welcoming he receives makes him suspicious. Then there is the highly attractive Dru... Who is not quite as welcoming, but is oh so tempting.

Sizzling Susan Andersen is back and brings another dose of entertaining and emotionally riveting reading. Ms. Anderson's list of keeper books is getting increasingly long! (Jan., 384 pp., $6.99)
