Veterinarian Patience Cavanaugh treats the K-9 squad dogs for the police department. Coming from a police family, she has a firm rule against dating any police officers. Braden Coltrane, a member of the K-9 squad, has a secret past and a closed-off heart. Patience is determined to save his heart, but with someone stalking her, he might have to save her life. Alone in the Dark (2) by Maria Ferrarella has a potentially suspenseful story that's weakened by the artificial feel of the relationship between the main characters and the fact that the plot contains no real surprises.
