ALPHA WOLF (3) by Linda O. Johnston When vet Melanie Harding saves a gunshot-wounded dog, she becomes the target of an anti-werewolf group in the small Maryland town where she's just started a veterinary practice. Convinced the werewolf stories are nothing but legend, Melanie cannot understand the uproar. But when she begins a relationship with Major Drew Connell, the military man whose dog she saved, she learns there may be more to the legends than she thinks. Although Johnston manages to include shapeshifting humans and make them seem believable, her depiction of this paranormal world could have been stronger, especially when she describes Drew's shift to wolf.
