Turner brings a whole lot of drama in Always Unique, a compilation of three novellas in which Unique’s history of amoral acts have come back to bite her in the behind. Bent on retribution and compensation, her victims are determined to get their pound of flesh in this story that’s action-packed with surprising twists.

After years of robbing, scamming and whoring, Unique has turned her life around and is living large. She is in a loving relationship with the multi-millionaire boxing promoter Kennard DuVall. Then a sinister ghost from her past, Fat Tee, shows up to terrorize Unique into paying him a million bucks. Just when Unique and her best friend devise a scheme to come up with the money, the plot thickens. (ST. MARTIN’S GRIFFIN., Mar., 304 pp., $15.99)
