THE AMISH NANNY (4) by Patricia Davids: Amish logger Ethan Gingerich recently took in his niece and nephew after the death of their parents. The children are in desperate need of a nanny, particularly 8-year-old Micah, so Ethan hires Clara Barkman. While she copes with flashbacks from an abusive past, Clara longs to help Micah with his grief. Faced with the possibility of losing the children, Ethan considers a marriage of convenience. But how will things change when Clara is offered a teaching position, which would require her to stay single? Abuse and PTSD are not typically addressed in Amish-themed novels, but Davids does it impressively. It is well researched and educates the reader on Amish logging practices. The Amish Nanny is a quick, enjoyable read.
