ANCIENT TIES

How could Janney Forrester, while exploring ruins in modern Rome, suddenly end up in the ancient city of Bath some 2,000 years earlier?
She's facing the most perfect specimen of a man, Roman soldier Marek Benus Verus. While it appears that a gold bracelet Janney found that belonged to Marek brought her back in time, that's not the case at all.
Venus, the goddess of love, and Mars, the god of war -- who are totally in love with each other -- sometimes step into people's lives when they are at cross purposes. In the case of Janney and Marek, Venus has a lot to do so that this couple realizes they are meant to be together. Mars just wants his broken soldier, Marek, back on the battlefield. Venus knows that Marek needs someone in his life who will bring true, solid happiness.
Marek and Janney have a sizzling attraction, and that is where Quinn turns up the heat and intensity. This story has a wonderful balance between sensitivity and sensuality, with humor from the gods on the side. A terrific book. (Aug. '05, 281 pp., $12.95)
