Small-town Indiana girl Meredith Shordon plans to rid herself of her mortician ex-fiancé, her wholesome "Miss Holstein 2005" persona and her virginity. Using the excuse that her pregnant cousin needs her help, Meredith travels
to Boston, determined to have a big-city, no-strings-attached adventure.

She meets and propositions Travis Campbell, a sexy ad man who's sworn off drinking and women for at least a month. Their resolutions are tested when they both encounter the one person they've vowed to avoid: someone who might steal their guarded hearts.

Jump has a charming writing style, and this book is packed with humor. The recipes heading each chapter are not only funny, they're also terrific char-acterization tools. The unscrupulous boss and overprotective mother get a
bit tiresome, but the story's fast pace and great dialogue delight. (Aug., 352 pp., $5.99)
