Sarah Tucker has come home after a 12-year absence. Her father has died and her mother needs help with her younger sister, Cass. Sarah hopes that the past was put to rest by her sudden departure, so when she returns home to find a handsome police officer sitting on her mother's front step, she is concerned -- until Luke explains her mother's accident. Too bad this handsome man has no use for psychics and has no plans for marriage. Will these two very different people find a happy ending -- or will their individual pasts get in the way?

This is a nice read. The secondary storyline revolving around Sarah's sister and mother is a pleasant addition to this heartwarming story. (May, 352 pp., $5.99)
