ANTIQUES BIZARRE
by Barbara Allan

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth

RT Rating

This latest cozy by the husband-and-wife team of Barbara and Max Allan Collins is part of the Trash 'n' Treasure mysteries, and it's a cozy with a twist. Brandy Borne has lost custody of her son, who lives with her ex-husband. Her dog is a diabetic, blind shih tzu who believes in revenge. And her bipolar mother is often off her medications. For some, Brandy has an unusually realistic life in all its messiness. The book is hysterically funny as well as a solid mystery.

Brandy is pregnant, serving as a surrogate mother for her best friend. But without her Prozac, life is even crazier than usual. Her mother, Vivian, has decided to organize a fundraiser for the area flooded by the Mississippi River. Vivian even manages to talk a Russian heiress into donating a Faberge egg for an auction. But when the winning bidder ends up dead and the egg goes missing, insanity reigns. (KENSINGTON, Mar., 240 pp., $22.00)
