Set in Regency England, Rowe’s latest features childhood playmates getting entangled in an affair that involves some BDSM. It would have been more palatable if the author had given the reader a clearer picture of Sebastian and the rationale for his proclivities. Keep reading, though, as he becomes a more sympathetic character and their growing love becomes more believable after a very shaky start.

Frederica has spent the majority of her life at Goddard Castle, a run-down medieval relic begging for restoration. Unfortunately the late Duke of Roxbury was more interested in the history of the castle than the upkeep. When her childhood friend, Sebastian, inherits the castle, she makes a bargain with him: she will be his mistress for a month if he’ll agree to sell her Goddard Castle. But Sebastian has revenge on his mind. He’ll make Freddie pay for her betrayal years earlier. Freddie is his match in every way, though, and she just might change his mind.
