This is a delightful romance with an insecure, yet independent heroine who tries to do the right thing and face life in a realistic way, and a wonderfully sweet hero who is torn between protecting a friend and falling in love.

A one-night stand ends with Sabrina Cassidy broke and pregnant. Desperate, she heads home to Justice, Neb., only to break down somewhere in Wyoming. She calls Luke, the man she left behind, for help, but it’s his best friend and business partner, Mark Sterling, who shows up to rescue her. Even though they don’t like one another, the sexual tension between them is catastrophic. Her return home produces a proposal from Luke, one her father supports and she considers. However, she is beginning to realize that Luke may care more for her father than her and she may be falling in love — with Marc. As for Marc, he’s determined to protect Luke from being hurt again by Sabrina, not realizing that he’s putting himself in the line of fire. (SAMHAIN, Apr., 280 pp., $16.00)
