When opening a Singh novel you can be certain that the world will be intricately detailed and well planned, and the characters vivid and intriguing. So it is no surprise that her new Guild Hunter book delivers on all counts. Mysterious spymaster angel Jason takes on the mission of his life as he works to solve a murder. Passion and intrigue mesh brilliantly, making this an outstanding read.

During the wedding of Dmitri and Honor, Archangel Raphael’s spymaster Jason gets word that Eris, the consort of the Archangel Neha, has been murdered and Neha is on the verge of madness. Although Eris betrayed Neha centuries ago, with her own sister Nivriti, Neha is devastated by his death. To stop Neha from sliding into vengeance-dripped hysteria, Jason volunteers to hunt down the killer. But Neha’s trust isn’t easily won; she insists Jason bind himself to her by swearing a blood vow to her niece, Mahiya. Jason agrees, but knows their familial relationship is complicated as Mahiya is the daughter of Nivriti and Eris. When additional mysterious deaths occur, Jason and Mahiya must learn to trust each other if they are to stop these killings. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Sep., 352 pp., $7.99)
