Lovers of science fiction and space opera will enjoy reading this clever, entertaining tale. The heroine is worn out and run down but she’s nothing if not a fighter, stowing away on a vessel in space. Koyanagi’s characters are unvarnished and realistic, driving the story forward with the force of their personal narratives. While it is a bit slow to start, the story picks up speed and did manage to keep this reviewer interested and engaged, and while the romance between Alana and the Captain is a bit forced, the attraction is definitely there.

In a dying economy where Transliminal owns everything and everyone, Alana Quick longs for the great adventure of space. Desperation and bravery lead her to sneak onboard a ship, The Tangled Axon, a lovely old beauty that makes Alana want to get her hands intertwined inside the wires and discover the ship’s story. When the captain demands her cooperation to locate her sister, a spirit guide, things get crazy. They’re about to get worse when a world dies and The Tangled Axon is blamed, not to mention that Alana can’t keep her eyes off the voluptuous and beautiful captain. She’s got her work cut out for her. (MASQUE-BOOKS.COM, dl $6.99)
