Austin Finley has one huge regret: ignoring a call on 9/11 from his twin brother. Dr. Mercy Samara deems Austin unfit to return to his job as a beat cop in New York City. He resigns and moves to Baltimore, where he finds work as an EMT. Mercy has her own difficult memories and becomes a high school counselor in Baltimore. She is surprised by a chance encounter with Austin. As the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, old memories surface and new feelings emerge. (ABINGDON, Sep., 336 pp., $14.99)
