Bradford’s second Amish mystery has Claire settling into her new life after a painful divorce. The Amish customs and traditions are fascinating and blend nicely into the mystery, while the author’s ability to provide an authentic sense of community makes this story engaging.

Gift shop owner Claire Weatherly and the whole town of Heavenly are excited about the prospect of a major toy company producing an Amish toy line in their town. The owner of Karble Toys, Roy Karble, has promised the toys will be handmade in Heavenly by the Amish community. When a memo surfaces indicating that the toys will be mass-produced at another location, the townspeople are angered. Yet the Amish Food Festival must go on, and as Claire and detective Jakob Fisher take in the festival, they find the dead body of Karble. (PRIME CRIME, Mar., 288 pp., $7.99)
