RT Rating

Continuing seamlessly from the first entry in the Dark Heroine series, Gibbs brings us this second installment, filled with intriguing characters and a dynamic heroine, all set within a world of otherworldly beings. Clever, crisp writing with a modern tone, solid pacing and dual points of view keep the reader turning the pages.

Student Autumn Rose Al-Summers is a Sage — a guardian who defends humans, more specifically the students at Kable Community College. The enemy? The Extermino, a group of Sages who have gone against the rules of the monarch and committed terrible acts. When Fallon, the Sage Prince of Athenea, arrives at Kable to be a guardian for a year, Autumn is not happy, especially when she is assigned to be his mentor. Yet Autumn and Fallon are drawn together in more ways than one, as the threat from The Extermino intensifies. (MORROW, Jan., 400 pp., $13.99)
