Here’s another great book centered around the Sweet Seasons Café and the women who run it. The characters are sweet, funny and determined not to offend anyone with their decisions. Hubbard allows her characters to tell their stories how they want to, and readers will enjoy their voices.

Widowed Miriam Lantz has just met her future in the form of one Ben Hooley, who seemed to come out of nowhere during a strong storm. He is a traveling blacksmith who seems content to stay in her small community. She knows Bishop Knepp is beside himself, as he is pursuing her in hopes she will marry him. There are so many obstacles in the way of true love, and Miriam has to choose wisely or she could lose more than just her café to forces she has no control over. She realizes she must listen to God to find the happiness she knows is within her reach. (ZEBRA, Sep., 368 pp., $6.99)
