Awakened Love is a sweet romance with some mystery thrown in. The characters are charming and well written; they have their world turned upside down by other people’s choices and learn to make their own. Hilton is an amazing writer as she brings forth her knowledge of the Amish and their way of life with high respect.

Katie Detweiler could bake all day, every day. She is happy to be employed by a local B&B to bake in the back away from the public. When the owner must take more time to care for her husband, Katie finds herself dealing with customers, one of whom tells her that he has been looking for her. She is adopted and her biological sister needs a bone marrow transplant to live. Abram Hilty has come to town to hide from a killer — and a girl he’s not interested in. Katie catches his eye from the start, but if he gets too attached to her and the members of the community, he could put them in danger. Both must face their pasts and put an end to their doubts to have a safe, happy future. (WHITAKER HOUSE, Sep., 288 pp., $12.99)
