RT Rating

Dealing with a timely and deeply frightening topic, Ms. Harper delivers a chilling tale, well-told, with characters who will stay with you for quite a while.

Raised in the hills of Appalachia, Emma Watson left Shelter, Kentucky to train as a midwife, but knew that she would return to her hometown to practice. Determined to give her poor neighborhood women the best care, she is willing to fight anyone who stands in her way.

Dr. Griffen Cusack doesn't want to
be in Shelter, but a deal with the town benefactress means he must work there for three years. Hes repeatedly shocked by life in the backwoods town, and has little understanding of the midwife's ways.

However, when strange things begin happening to the pregnant women
in town, Emma and Griff join forces. They must discover who is behind the dark practice of stealing babies.
