BABYVILLE
by Jane Green

Genre: Mainstream, Chick lit

2003 Best Chick Lit Novel Nominee

RT Rating

Popular author Jane Green (Jemima J., Mr. Maybe) is back with another winner! Julia feels trapped with her boyfriend, Mark, and thinks having a baby will make everything better. However, she can't get pregnant and is convinced he's firing blanks. Maeve is a career woman who gets pregnant after a one-night-stand. And Samantha was happily married to Chris before baby George came along; now she's saddled with baby weight, is disgusted with Chris and lusts after a married acquaintance.

This appealing and addictive novel tackles the challenges of romantic relationships and careers while also addressing various motherhood issues. A chatty writing style, great characters and fantastic plot twists make this a fantastic read. I couldn't put it down! (May, 438 pp., $21.00)
