The connections between the three lead female characters are admirable but each character is unlikable. The middle of the book is full of believable drama that is not so over the top that it loses the reader. Additionally, the ending is abrupt and there is no solid conclusion for two of the characters.

Best friends Billie, Sherise and Erica have been through it all together, but none of them are prepared for the coming drama. Newly divorced, Billie is trying to get her life back on track while succumbing to sexual advances by her ex-husband and trying to maintain a relationship with her stepdaughter. Fresh from maternity leave, Sherise is ready to conquer newer and greater heights in the workplace. Erica receives a promotion that means more money and responsibility at a price she may not be willing to pay. (DAFINA, Aug., 320 pp., $14.00)
