Book Review

THE BAD ALWAYS DIE TWICE
by Cheryl Crane

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Amateur Sleuth

RT Rating

Readers who enjoy insights into the Hollywood lifestyle will find the details in this novel entertaining. The mystery is well plotted, and the pace is good. However, the ease with which amateur detective Nikki Harper becomes involved in the case is a little far-fetched. For example, she is allowed into the crime scene because one of the officers likes her movie-star mother’s films.

Realtor Nikki Harper turns detective when her friend and business partner Jessica Martin discovers the body of a former client. The former actor was murdered and left in Jessica’s bed. Oddly, the victim had been allegedly killed in a plane crash several months earlier. Nikki soon discovers that Jessica was having an affair with the victim, and now someone is trying to frame her for her former lover’s murder. (KENSINGTON, Sep., 279 pp., $25.00)
