Boston P.I. Spenser is hired by Marlene Rowley to look into her husband's extracurricular activities. What begins as a simple investigation of infidelity becomes much more when Marlene's husband is found murdered in his office at Kinergy, a very successful energy brokering company.

Spenser's investigation leads him to radio talk-show host Darrin O'Mara, who also leads seminars on courtly love, which according to his definition is synonymous with open marriage and infidelity. As Spenser's sidekick, Hawk, and psychologist girlfriend Dr. Susan Silverman try to uncover Kinergy's connection to O'Mara, another murder occurs.

As always, Parker has written a tightly woven plot with well-developed characters. Fans of Parker's Spenser series will be pleased with this new release. And it's enough to turn newcomers to the series into fans. (Mar., 320 pp., $24.95)
