BAREFOOT AND PREGNANT?
BAREFOOT AND PREGNANT? (3) by Colleen Faulkner has some fun moments, most of them revolving around a self-help book called The Husband Finder. The tome teaches heroine Elise how to use intellect instead of emotion to catch a husband, via checklists and amusingly misguided aphorisms such as "Never rely on physical chemistry." Top-selling realtor Elise follows the rules in this love primer as zealously as she plots sales strategies. However, when rule-breaker Zane comes along, all of Elise's well-laid plans fall apart. In the final pages, though the potential for character growth has been laid, Elise's awakening to the realities of love (that it can't be found by following any rules) feels forced instead of natural.
