Book Review

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

RT Rating

A stellar return to Gatlin. Lena and Ethan’s perfect relationship gets complicated as Ethan discovers more hidden layers to his hometown. Though the paranormal infuses the story, Garcia and Stohl do an amazing job of exploring how grief (and fear) can tear a relationship apart.

Ethan and Lena are still reeling from the death of Macon, Lena’s godfather. When Lena starts slipping away, Ethan doesn’t know where to turn. Matters only get worse when Lena’s cousin Ridley comes back to Gatlin and suddenly Lena is sneaking off with a boy who rides a motorcycle. Ethan knows he must discover the truth behind what is going on before it’s too late and Lena becomes a dark Caster. (LITTLE, BROWN, Nov., 504 pp., $17.99, HC, ISBN: 9780316077057, 12 & Up)
