BECAUSE OF THE LIST (4) by Amy Knupp: Home from Afghanistan to recover from an accident that killed his best friend Quinn, Alex Worth is determined to help Quinn’s sister, Taylor McCabe, fix up the family home she’s thinking about selling. Unfortunately, his attraction to the brainy computer programmer keeps getting in the way. And his guilt over sleeping with her almost ruins their relationship before it even has a chance to really begin. These are well-drawn characters with complex personalities and realistic reactions to life’s problems. Taylor’s insecurity around men is just what one would expect of a computer “nerd,” and Alex’s guilt over being the pilot of the helicopter that crashed and killed his friend also seems very real.
