Grace uses a traditional plot to her advantage, centering the story on her engaging characters rather than on the common conflicts inherent in the story’s design. Readers will savor the growing romance between two disparate people and the dash of mystery. Hopefully this is not the last time we meet these characters.

Baron Sebastian Thorne is tired of people talking behind his back about how his fiancée ran off with his best friend. His intent is to repair his family’s reputation. Then, he’s rescued from attack by the Angel of Whitechapel. Lady Helena Prestwick is society’s darling, but she hides a dark secret: Her long-lost sister might be in a London brothel. Sebastian coerces Helena into a devil’s bargain: smooth his sister’s way into the ton or be exposed. Though it appears Sebastian has the upper hand, Helena isn’t without her weapons. Soon, they are caught in a web of their own making and only love can set them free. (SOURCEBOOKS, Sep., 380 pp., $7.99)
