FROM THE BEGINNING (4.5) by Tracy Wolff: After her young daughter dies of cancer, Dr. Amanda Jacobs buries herself in her work helping the poor in Somalia. But when her grief gets the better of her and she burns out, she’s forced to return to the U.S. with her ex-husband, Simon, a television journalist who always seemed to busy to deal with her and their daughter’s illness. Back home, Amanda works on putting her life back together again. At the same time, Simon seems determined to get their marriage back as well. Readers will savor characters with real depth and a heart-wrenching storyline. Amanda’s and Simon’s grief over their daughter’s death is very realistic. Additionally, the rekindling of their love is both touching and nicely written.
