Perennial favorite Potter deftly dives into dark waters where everything two women believe is suddenly called into question. Not only does her latest provide a twisty plot, it also delivers two compelling romances that weave throughout. Potter is in top form!

Atlanta reporter Kira Douglas is devastated by her blood test results. Not only do they reveal that she's not a kidney donor match for her dying mother, Katy, they also show that she's not her biological daughter. Determined to get to the truth, Kira soon realizes that Katy has no idea about the lack of biological connection, which means a baby switch must have happened in the same hospital 32 years ago.

With help from P.I. friend Chris Burke, Kira locates the most logical switch candidate, orphaned heiress Leigh Howard. As the heir to the Westerfield fortune, Leigh is protected by her attorney and friend Max Payton, who's angry and skeptical of Kira's claim. But after someone ransacks Kira's house and tries to kill her, it's apparent that someone wants the truth to stay buried. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Dec., 324 pp., $7.99)
