Book Review

BELLADONNA
by Anne Bishop

Genre: Fantasy, General Fantasy

RT Rating

The second book in Bishop's Ephemera series is a quick read that fans of Sebastian should find extremely satisfying. Bishop excels at characterization, but her worldbuilding is sometimes difficult to follow. A bit more crispness in explaining exactly how her fictional universe works would make events easier to follow and the novel even more compulsively readable than it already is.

The Eater of Worlds is continuing its tainting of landscapes with doubt and fears in Ephemera -- and it's fallen to Glorianna Belladonna to save Ephemera for the Light.

Glorianna's the only one who possesses the power to save Ephemera, but because she's been shunned by the other Landscapers, she gets some much-needed help from a mysterious man and his sister. Combined, their abilities make it possible for Glorianna to do what needs to be done and offer Ephemera a chance to survive. (Roc, Mar., 448 pp., $23.95)
