Book Review

BELOVED CAPTIVE
by Kathleen Y'Barbo

Genre: Inspirational, Historical Romance

RT Rating

Y'Barbo's latest has all the ingredients historical romance readers want: adventure, secrets, danger and love. It all blends wonderfully together until Emilie and Caleb are separated for a good portion of the story, causing the plot to lose momentum. Overall, though, the story is enjoyable and worth the read.

Wealthy Emilie Gayarre finds she's been living a lie. Her family has kept a secret from her that even the servants know: Her birth mother was a slave. Shocked but still dedicated to teaching the children of Fairweather Keys, she sets sail to Florida. Along
the way, she encounters danger and adventures on the high seas and is
captured by the ruggedly handsome Caleb Spencer.

The attraction between them is immediate. Caleb is hiding secrets, but will it be Emilie's secret heritage that destroys everything Caleb worked hard to achieve? (Barbour, Nov., 304 pp., $10.97)
