The death of a mutual friend unites three women, each battling personal demons. Abby is the successful host of a home clean-up show, but she's at the breaking point over problems with her new boss, her husband and her teenage daughter. Lizzie spends so much time looking after others she never accepts how lonely she is without her ex-husband. And Erin has recently returned to Ireland to face the family she ran away from years earlier.

Kelly skillfully juggles each plotline as the women learn that life is meant to be lived. Fans of Maeve Binchy will also enjoy Cathy Kelly. Her careful plotting and charming, positive characters are a pleasure. (Feb., 528 pp., $14.00)
