BETRAYAL IN THE BADLANDS (4.5) by Dana Mentink: Isabel Ling left home at 16, leaving behind her sister, Cassie. Now, 16 years later, Cassie is dead and Isabel is heir to the Mountain Cloud Ranch where her sister lived and took care of abused horses. Logan Price, ex-Air Force pararescuer, has been working on the ranch. His offer to help Isabel comes to fruition quickly when someone pushes her down a ravine. It becomes apparent that Cassie’s death was not an accident and now the killer is out to get Isabel, but not if Logan has any say in the matter. A fast-moving, suspenseful story with a fine mystery that readers, especially those fond of horses, will enjoy.
