THE BETRAYED (4.5) by Jana DeLeon: The youngest LeBeau sister has come back to Calais to connect with her past and claim the part of the inheritance her mother left her. Of the three sisters, Danae may have had the hardest time as a child, leaving her with a strong distrust of people, but she turns to contractor Zach Sargent to survive the dark secrets of her family estate. Zach took the job to restore the family’s mansion with the aim of finding out why his father’s dying thoughts were of Danae’s dead mother. He thought he’d have full access to the mansion, but Danae’s suspicious nature is getting in the way — until mysterious break-ins begin plaguing the estate and someone tries to kill her. DeLeon knows more than what makes the swamps eerie — she’s got a better handle on the evil that drives men to terrorize a young woman.
