This tale, filled with interesting
characters, tells three love stories,
two that are beginning and one
ending. The secondary romance is
just as interesting as the main one, especially because it's easy to lose patience with the hero. Though a
fascinating look at yacht racing,
it doesn't produce a you-are-
there feeling.

Will's mother walked out on his father when he was 3, claiming he was a bum -- and his father never let Will forget that. Will and Meghan were together for four years when he broke up with her because she wanted more than he believed he could give.

Two years later Will is competing in the Newport-Bermuda Ocean Sailing race. Meghan is the best trimmer there is, and he desperately needs her help. Against her better judgment, but with the blessings of her fiance, she is back on board and feeling all the emotions for Will that she thought she had put behind her. Could there be a second chance for them? (Zebra, Sep., 352 pp., $6.99)
