BEYOND THE STORM
A fascinating story, told largely in flashbacks, gives the history of both the main couple and the one who came before, with whom they seem to have a connection. It’s paranormal with a bit of romance, a bit of mystery and an interesting ending.
Adam Blackburn dislikes storms; he is not happy to be caught in one on his way to his 20th high school reunion. Vanessa Massey is on her way to the reunion as well. Divorced and childless, her main reason for attending is the hope of reconnecting with Adam. They only shared a few hours 20 years ago, but they connected like they had met before — then parted and went their separate ways. Today they run into one another, literally, and end up taking shelter in an abandoned house, where they explore their mysterious bond and history. (Kensington, Jun., 256 pp., $15.00)
