RT Rating

Rising urban fantasy star Bennett crosses over into paranormal romance with a sassy, sexy and scary new series set in the Roaring ‘20s. Prohibition, black magic and ghosts are just some of the elements in this terrific book, which focuses on two independent and damaged characters. Bennett beautifully evokes the lavish atmosphere of the Gilded Age while also exploring the dark underbelly of that period. The combination of sizzling sex, gritty danger and paranormal thrills adds up to one stupendous read!

Using her talent for seeing and channeling the dead, Aida Palmer makes her living as a spirit medium obtaining bookings at speakeasies and clubs around the country. Currently Aida is working at the Gris-Gris in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Winter Magnusson is one of SF’s top bootleggers and a formidable foe — but someone appears to be targeting him using a black magic hex. The curse draws malevolent ghosts to Winter, but luckily for Winter, Aida can banish them. As they try to determine who is responsible for the curse, Winter and Aida discover they share an intoxicating attraction. (BERKLEY SENSATION, Jan., 336 pp., $7.99)
