A fantastic adventure. Gardiner details the Undergovernment of the Therian race in a way that exudes danger. The plotline is intriguing, as Gardiner intertwines her new mythology with old ones in a subtle but successful way. Appealing in every way, the novel has interesting characters, a quick pace and a beguiling, dark atmosphere.

Jude Black is a Therian; they are a shapeshifting race who live below ground, unbeknownst to humans. Letitia Hawkes is a werewolf. Though their races are sworn enemies, she and Jude find themselves working together to untangle a web of secrecy that may lead them to Jude’s missing brother. Through layers of deceit, they will uncover truths, ancient and new, that will turn both their worlds upside down. (IMAJINN, May, 248 pp., $15.00)

I enjoyed reading this novel

I enjoyed reading this novel so much. The author opens a door into a complex world inhabited by humans, werewolves and of course Therians. The story has multiple layers and the entire world build around it is a solid one. I also enjoyed in the humor the author brings from time to time to loose the tension. And the story does get tense. The romance thread was very well done and the obstacles very real. I'm looking forward to the next one.
